From humble beginnings to a leader in turntable technology, Carousel USA’s story is one of American ingenuity.
It all started in 2004 when founder John Thomson faced a common challenge: a narrow driveway and a majestic oak tree obstructing access to his garage. Existing turntables on the market weren’t cutting it! John, a lifelong mechanical enthusiast, decided to build a better solution himself.
Carousel USA Sprouts from a Seed of Necessity
John’s vision became Carousel USA. A company that manufactures revolving machinery specializing in commercial and residential turntables. Lifts, lateral sliders, additional parking solutions, and a recently launched new high-definition photo studio app for car dealers were also added. This equipment is primarily custom-built for commercial businesses, residential customers, architects, engineers, designers, and the military. CUSA designs and builds all its products in-house at its 24,000 sq-ft headquarters in Fontana, CA. Products are shipped and transported via Carousel USA trucks and commercial carriers to customers all around the world.
Located in Fontana, with approximately 45 employees, and includes its team of mechanical and electrical engineers. The company values innovation as much as manufacturing. CUSA aims to collaborate with customers to create custom solutions for first-of-their-kind projects and builds. This meticulous approach ensures exceptional quality and customization for every project.

John Thomson is the founder and CEO of Carousel USA, a manufacturing company specializing in the design and installation of revolving machinery including commercial and residential turntables, Scissor lifts, parking sliders and alternative parking solutions. After a decades-long career in the financial services industry, John founded Carousel USA in 2004 in response to his need for a parking solution at his own home.
Today, Carousel USA has successfully installed over 2000 residential and commercial custom turntables, parking lifts and sliders worldwide including U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Middle East, and Japan quickly becoming an industry leader and the foremost independent builder of custom equipment and all sized turntables.
John holds a Bachelor of Science from The University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from The Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University. He currently resides in Southern California with his wife, Tina, and their two Boston Terriers.
